Dr. Shelley Ross has spent her career as a full-service family physician in BC, with a special interest in the health of women and children. In addition to a busy clinical practice, she has been President of both the Federation of Medical Women of Canada and the Medical Women's International Association (MWIA), and served as MWIA's Secretary General (CEO) from 2007 to 2019. She coordinated the writing of two training manuals--one on Gender Mainstreaming in Health and one on Adolescent Sexuality- and also worked on gender with WHO's Department of Gender Equity and Human Rights. She served as President of the Doctors of BC (formerly the BCMA) and was a board member of the Canadian Medical Association. She co-chaired the General Practice Services Committee for the Province of BC, working with the Ministry of Health to improve primary care in the province.
