Kate Kerber
About
Kate Kerber is a senior researcher in the Indigenous & Global Health Research Group in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alberta, and finishing a PhD in South Africa. She has lived and worked in Africa (10+ countries) for over a decade with Save the Children, providing support for local implementation of newborn care policies and programs. Recently, Kate was principal investigator for an implementation research study in South Sudan, testing a new field guide for maternal and newborn care in emergency settings. She also led the development of the World Health Organization guidelines for perinatal mortality audit to improve quality of care in low-resource settings. She has over 50 peer reviewed publications in the area of maternal and newborn health and integrated health systems, and is a member of the BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth Editorial Board.
