Valerie Percival, MA DrPH, is an Associate Professor at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) at Carleton University. Her current research focuses on the health of civilians in violent conflict, gender and health systems and policy networks. With the Aga Khan Foundation of Canada, she leads a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) funded partnership project entitled 'GênLab' that examines how gender norms influence health system access and health service delivery. She also serves as a Commissioner with the Lancet-SIGHT Commission on Peaceful Societies through Health and Gender Equality. She previously held positions at the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, as well as the International Crisis Group, heading their Kosovo Office. She holds a DrPH from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, a MA from Carleton University (NPSIA) and a BA from the University of Toronto.
