Annalee Yassi is a Professor and Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Global Health and Capacity-Building in the School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia, where she co-directs a World Health Organization collaborating centre. A specialist in public health and preventive medicine as well as occupational medicine, she has published over 190 peer-reviewed journal articles focusing on collaborative roles in occupational health and infection control; issues and methods in community-based health research; transdisciplinarity; and multidirectional intercultural learning in North-South-South partnerships. She is interested in ethics in global health, the link between clinical care and social determination of health, an ecosystem approach to health, and the use of arts-based methods in health intervention research. Annalee has been leading projects in Latin America and in Southern Africa, and helping to train, implement information systems, and develop policy particularly in the area of health of healthcare workers.
